Payroll Director

/> Our client, a major New York area firm is seeking a Payroll Director     Requirements —     The Payroll Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the payroll for a multistate covering over 10,000 employees in various states in the US —     Payroll processing within both a unionized and union-free environment. —     Reviews and analyzes current payroll and tax procedures identifying opportunities for process improvement. —     Implement changes to ensure best practice in a high performing organization. —     Supervises, mentors and develops he payroll team along with assisting the team with task prioritization and work planning. —     Conducts annual performance reviews —     Collaborates with the HR Supervisor (and team), Finance and HR stream leads to ensure regulatory compliance. —     Performs compliance audits and testing to ensure compliance with all  federal and state wage and hour laws. —     Leading and supporting all internal and external audits related to the payroll data and process. —     Prepares relevant management reports showing related payroll activities (i.e. wages by cost center, etc.) —     Reconciles with the General Ledger and bank accounts —     Pays invoices including union dues, insurance and other benefits premiums and payroll funding of taxes, etc. Minimum Qualifications: —     Bachelors degree in finance, accounting, or business related discipline —     Strong understanding of payroll and payroll tax laws —     Ten plus years of experience managing and processing mult-state, union and non-union payrolls —     Ability to lead and manage a large staff —     Strong analytical and judgment skills —     Excellent communication skills including the ability to deal effectively at all organizational levels —     Highly developed organizational acumen —     Ability to analyze processes and drive more efficient and effective practices      —     Experience with large HRIS and Payroll systems such as Peoplesoft, Oracle, Workday, ADP, Ceridian, etc. Payroll certification a plus
