B-631 AC Engineering Project Leader – OEM UL ETL CSA AHRI DOE DFMA FMEA - NY Location: Job is in Central New York, NY Domain: Engineering Experience: 5-7 Years Experienced AC Engineering Project Leader is required having complete knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid flow, airflow and functional electrical controls as they relate to system operation. Job Responsibilities: Capable of highly detailed analytical thermodynamic studies. Make recommendations and equipment selections based upon results of analytical studies. Responsible for development engineering and conceptualization of new or modified products. Thermodynamic and airflow expert. Ability to work independently and lead a cross functional team to implement new designs. Interface with and coordinate the needs of designers, lab technicians, manufacturing, operations, quality, service and product managers. Leads a cross functional team to achieve desired business results. Mentors and actively leads a development team. Identifies test protocols and leads technicians, model shop and other hands on technical resources. Knowledge of data acquisition (Labview or other) systems, data collection and reduction programs. Plans and develops a complete and thorough project plan. Includes proof of concept, marketing deliverables, literature, manufacturing, sales, purchasing, engineering samples and qualification, manufacturability, pilot and release to production. Follow a stage gate product release process. Hold team meetings and work with other team members to meet program deliverables and ensure a timely release of product. Experience developing and fully understands DFMA processes. Ability to lead DFMA, FMEA and value engineering sessions. Ability to estimate product costs and trace throughout the development cycle. Estimate capital requirements and sponsor capital requests to management. Working knowledge and ability to coordinate with outside listing agencies for safety and certification. UL, ETL, CSA, DOE, AHRI and other required Knowledge of electrical controls. Confirms accuracy of bills of material, item masters and all product documentation. Works within a company-wide documentation and change policy. Plans test programs that demonstrate all aspects of safety and quality. Acts as a visible and active champion raising the bar on product performance and reliability. Works with commodities and purchasing in the process of selecting suppliers that meet performance, quality, safety and delivery needs. Tracking of cost goals to production. Must be an effective communicator and possess the ability to work with team members with a variety of skillsets and personal approaches. Fosters a desire for success within the development team. Mentors other team members and helps develop the career path of others. Works closely and teams with product marketing to confirm that development programs full meet customer expectations. Travel to problem jobs if necessary to provide guidance to field representatives and technical services group. Other duties as assigned to support the business unit. Job Requirements & Experience: A complete understanding of manufacturing processes as it relates to AC product development in an OEM environment required. Proven track record of heating and air conditioning development. A complete knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid flow, airflow and functional electrical controls as they relate to system operation. Background in a lean or demand flow environment is preferred. A complete working hands on knowledge of third party certifications is a must. (UL, ETL, CSA, AHRI, DOE) Proven team leadership skills. 5 to 7 years as a successful air conditioning project leader preferred. Educational Qualifications: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. A Master’s degree in the same or related field is a plus.
