oller Job Description   Position: Controller Reporting to: Corporate Director of Finance and Sunset Beach General Manager Summary of Position: Responsible for all aspect of the accounting department and its policies and procedures for Sunset Beach. Responsible for working out of the corporate office and assisting other property Controllers as needed during the off season.   Essential Functions: Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures, as well as accounting transaction and internal controls, designed to mitigate risk and provide safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, program budgets and actual expenditures. Manage all aspects of accounting department, including general accounting and control activities, budgets, accounts payable, payroll, G/L accounting, month-end close, cost and inventory accounting, general cashiering, etc. Manage on site HR functions including new hire paperwork, record keeping, background checks, etc. Work with the owners to guide the development and management of budgets, monitoring performance against budget and forecasts and managing cash flow.  Comply with all federal, state and local government reporting requirements and tax filings. Calculate and issue financial, operating and other metrics to provide performance benchmarks/insights to key leaders in the organization. Provide financial analysis as needed for internal or external projects (i.e., capital investments, pricing decisions, contract negotiations, staff rental agreements, etc). Manage the annual budget process and forecast updates, including variance analysis and reporting of significant issues. Responsible for monthly, quarterly and annual tax filings and year-end closings. Provide management/owners with information vital to the decision-making process. Develop internal audit routines, assess current accounting operations, and offer recommendations for improvement and implement new processes. Evaluate the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database as needed. Ensure accurate and timely reporting of monthly, quarterly and year-end financial data. Report monthly results against budget/forecast, including detailed variance analysis. Ensure appropriate levels of confidentiality within the organization and exhibit the highest degree of personal and professional integrity. Set goals, objectives and priorities Prepare regular reports: Comps, Revenue, Sales, Payroll, Restaurant Covers, Trends, etc. Analyze sales, revenue and produce reports.     Required Qualifications: Minimum 5+ years of direct or related experience in an upscale restaurant or F&B environment. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Excellent understanding of operational cost control, vendor management and quality assurance. Must be a strong team player with an ability to build positive and effective working relationships with others. High degree of personal drive and motivation to succeed. Out of the box thinker with a broad vision of leadership role within the organization. Effective communicator (written and verbal), with high quality report writing skills. Experience with accounting in New York preferred. Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel. Micros, Opera, and Dataplus preferred. Ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities. Demonstrate discretion and maintain a high level of confidentiality with all company documents, knowledge and practices.   Physical Requirements: Must be able to seize, grasp, turn and move objects. Must be able to work stationary for at least 8 hours. Periodical fast paced movements are required to go from one part of the property to others. Must be able to move, pull, carry or lift at least 20 pounds. Occasionally kneel, bend, crouch and climb is required.
