Set-up Operator & Lead (Industrial Pharmacy)

lient based in Hauppauge, NY has an opening for a Set-up Operator & Lead, where you will ensure the efficient and quality standards for operation of tablet press machinery and / or the capsule filling machinery. Responsible for all set-ups and changeovers between batches. Maintains an orderly and clean facility in compliance with regulations and completes all paperwork associated with these tasks.   Position Responsibility: Following the production schedule pulls the blend based on code and lot numbers (bag or drum) into productions area.   · Sets up equipment based on batch record; encapsulation or table press. o Capsules - weight and length of capsules o Tablets – weight, thickness and hardness of tablet   ·Troubleshoots machines as needed during the production run as a priority to minimize downtime. Available to move additional totes and drum as needed at each machine. Moving from one area to another area as needed to set-up and breakdown equipment, e.g., there may be 5 tablet machines and 4 encapsulation machines. Performs all adjustments and changeover of equipment based on the batch. Secures equipment to ensure that the equipment will not be accidentally turned on without performing the proper security measures, (turnoff power and all safety procedures) then places tag on equipment to verify checks have been completed. This is known as performing lock out / tag out procedures. Lead · Identifies any wear and tear on the equipment or tooling and reported to the management. · Identifies work flow during the day and transition to night shift operators. · Ensures all new staff is properly trained. · Checks the log books to ensure they are completed accurately and on-time by the operators.   All Operators · Must wear Personal Protective Equipment – a respirator, ear plugs, hair net, beard cover and uniform. · Physical Lifting required in the form of plastic and metal drums, bags, equipment, etc. Ladder climbing and forklift operation to retrieve stock. The lifting can be between 25-30 kg and/or roll drums weighting 80 kg which occurs 25% of the day. · Overtime may be required based on production volumes. ·Cross training will be conducted as time permits to increase knowledge of other production positions. · Satisfactory completion of appropriate corporate training as related to the position and/or department. · Assures compliance by following Food and Drug Administration's Good Manufacturing Practices as well as other regulatory standards as required by the department. · Contributes to overall achievement by accomplishing related tasks and demonstrating characteristics that exemplify team building and support. · The above is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS Experience and Skills: · 3 years prior knowledge in a manufacturing environment as a machine operator using Tablet Compression and/or Encapsulation Machine. · Ability to read a batch record · Ability to understand basic metrics system e.g. kilograms vs. pounds. · Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's). · Ability to stay focused on extreme detail. · Ability to troubleshoot mechanical equipment · Highly motivated individual. · Must be able to lift bags up to 30 kg and roll drum up to 80 kg for 25% of the day.   Education and Certifications: · High School Diploma or GED
