Director of Compensation and Benefits -
irector of Compensation and Benefits reports directly to the Vice President/Chief HR Officer and has primary responsibility for providing the strategic direction and administration of all compensation and benefits programs. The incumbent in this position will direct Total Compensation, Employee Benefits, and HR systems, and provide client business partnering in conjunction with the Generalist and HR Administration teams. This is a leadership role that requires a person with a broad HR background to perform a hands-on role at both a strategic and tactical level to assess and anticipate HR-related needs, recommend solutions, and manage shared resources to deliver results. Accountabilities Compensation Lead compensation strategy for the company by recommending standardized programs, sales and commission plans, variable compensation designs, bonus programs, and company stock option programs. Design clearly defined models linking compensation plans with performance throughout the organization with specific focus that sales plan design is equitable, competitive and drives the desired behaviors. Administer annual salary surveys with external vendors and provide analysis and recommendations for any changes to existing plans. Provide counsel to Generalist, Line Managers, and Recruitment regarding compensation issues, evaluating new positions, job bands, grade levels, job descriptions, promotions and transfers Monitor the compensation budget including salary adjustments, promotions, bonuses, merit increases. Benefits Provide strategic direction for all aspects of the company’s employee benefits programs Lead the strategy, design, implementation and day-to-day operations of the benefit programs (to include but not limited to; the group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, worker’s compensation, life insurance, travel and accident plan, flexible spending plan, and 401(k) plan). Lead all annual processes including analysis of plan effectiveness, conceptualizing and presenting a business case for change, selecting and overseeing consulting services, plan audit and discrimination tests, and filing annual forms (e.g., 5500, HIPAA, 401K). Design and distribute materials and communication tools for benefit orientations, open enrollment, benefits package and summary plan descriptions. Direct the effective administration of leave policies, workers compensation, compliance and regulatory reporting and HR documentation management. Provide counsel to the Generalist team regarding benefit policies and practices Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree preferred. A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a robust compensation and benefits role showing progressive responsibility. Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements both adopted and pending affecting employee benefit programs, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, ADEA, ERISA, HIPPA, SECTION 125, Workers Compensation, Medicare, OBRA, and Social Security and DOL requirements Experience designing and managing benefits programs Deep experience in Absence and Leave Management Proven leadership, interpersonal and relationship-building skills working with clients and HR colleagues to communicate effectively, build consensus, and establish trust. Experience managing relationships and leading negotiations with 3rd party vendors Demonstrated ability to think creatively and critically when solving problems. Solutions-oriented project management skills including thinking and presenting ideas at a strategic level for input as well as ensuring outcomes are delivered and executed on a tactical level. A strong analytical mindset with a detailed focus on presenting data that supports and measures best practices and company goals. Operational management expertise with attention to process, execution and delivery excellence to ensure strategic targets are achieved. High competency in working with the entire Microsoft Office suite; Excel mastery is essential. Solid experience and understanding of web-based HRIS systems. Excellent written and oral communication skills Ability to meet multiple deadlines in a deadline driven, changing environment
