Linux Engineer position

Engineer position   GC or Citizens.... Locals only or nearby states.   Duration: long term contract Location: New York, NY Pay Rate: $55/hr   Position Title: Sr. Linux Engineer     Department: GBI US Capital Markets     Purpose: Provide day to day maintenance and support of the hardware and software that is needed to run the RBC Capital Markets Unix environment.  Participate in on-call rotations to support a 24/7 environment. Ensure adequate and optimal measures are in place for the maintenance, performance and capacity management in RBC Capital Markets. Primary Responsibilities ·         Business alignment with all US Wholesale businesses. ·         Design, engineer and support low-latency environment including kernel settings ·         Troubleshoot system issues and resolve them in a timely manner ·         Develop automated processes for the team to maintain the environment ·         Integrate solutions that are developed locally to our global partners. ·         Provide support during company events (power down, DR tests, etc)   Authorities, Impact, Risk ·         Support a complex fast-paced trading environment. ·         Ensure all control items (Audit, Compliance, SOX, and Operational Risk) are adhered to with minimal issues. Issues are to be remedied within the prescribed time indicated in the Audit report.   Key Relationships ·         Interface directly with internal AppDev clients with business urgency ·         Coordinate project work with other infrastructure teams ·         Communicate with IT security Job Specifications   ·         8+ years in Unix/Linux Systems Engineering and support in a large-Scale Enterprise Environment. ·         5+ years engineering solutions on Redhat Linux systems or equivalent OS ·         College Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience ·         Strong knowledge of the US Capital Markets products and business. ·         Experience in the Financial Services field is preferred ·         Strong knowledge of Redhat Linux 5.x-6.x ·         Strong knowledge of Solaris Operating systems and Oracle hardware. ·         Strong Low latency kernel understanding and configuration knowledge ·         Advanced  Perl, Python and Shell scripting a must ·         Good understanding of configuration management tools like Puppet, Opsware and blade logic. ·         Experience in all Intel based hardware systems and vendors (IBM, DELL, etc) Working Conditions   ·         Working conditions requires moderate physical dexterity. ·         The discipline to exercise care and diligence during equipment installs. ·         The ability to cope with the elevated stress levels during system outages. ·         The pressures of working in a trading environment. ·         The flexibility to perform duties outside of general business hours     Time Allocations   ·         60% Unix/Linux server support ·         30% Unix/Linux server engineering ·         10% audit, compliance, documentation and administration       Send your resume to [email removed]
