Billing Supervisor-NYC Law Firm
ng Supervisor New York, NY Premier, National, Law Firm • The Billing Supervisor works closely with Billing Coordinators to ensure the Firm's billings are properly processed in a timely and accurate manner. Essential Functions: • Provides accurate billing information as requested, including analysis of billing, unapplied funds, cash receipts, and accounts receivable. • Responds to partner requests for client billing related changes and corrections. • Oversees maintenance and data integrity of the Firm's partner client billing files. • Processes write-offs and supporting documentation. • Reviews and revises policies and procedures to ensure invoices are rendered in compliance with client policies. • Collaborates with collections on receivables for follow-up. • Trains billing coordinators in billing practices and procedures. • Ensures the billing function is properly staffed during peak times. • Audits billing records to ensure accurate and complete data has been submitted for billing. • Identifies and resolves billing process deficiencies. • Rejects invoices that do not meet criteria and seeks remedy. • Opens new client/matters and applies proper rates and exceptions for timekeepers. • Ensures billing coordinators adhere to client billing agreements. • Maintains client requirements, guidelines and correspondence within the special fee agreement database. • Audits client invoices to ensure compliance before rendering. • Educates partners and secretaries regarding agreements. • Oversees efforts to ensure proper tracking of invoices. • Troubleshoots issues and provides guidance to billing coordinators. Other Responsibilities: • Performs other work-related duties may be assigned. Education: • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Qualifications Experience and Skills Required: • Minimum 5 years of experience in a billing capacity. • Experience within a law firm preferred. • Thorough knowledge of computerized billing applications in a networked client/server environment (ELITE). • Ability to oversee the daily activities of the billing department. • Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint • Able to review, interpret and produce complex documentation. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Solid organizational abilities. • Ability to adapt to monthly and cyclical peak work load and deadlines Up to $105K
