Cytology Supervisor

the general guidance of the Chief of Cytopathology, the selected candidate will supervise day to day operations of the cytology laboratory. Will also assign, oversee, and review the work of employees including competency and quality indicators of the department. Directs all phases of work, quality, service and costs, and performs tests or assays as required. Supervises the day to day operations of the department. This includes: Staff hires, scheduling, development, training and annual appraisals Develop, review and update all Standard Operation Procedures manuals Monitor workload allocation to ensure compliance with regulations and departmental turnaround time expectations Responsible for statistical compilation and analysis Responsible for all cytology laboratory inspection compliance and regulations Establish and monitor employee competency Establish, implement, enforce and monitor all QC, QA, service, safety and compliance indicators and programs Monitor department budget Participation in inventory control Ensures staff competency and remedial action if/when test systems deviate for acceptable standards Documentation and timely completion of special projects Oversee the processing laboratory Troubleshoot equipment and computer related problems Validation of methodology and instrumentation Oversees laboratory inspection Perform duties of cytotechnologist as needed Shifts: Day Relocation Assistance: Case-by-case basis Requirements MS/higher with a degree in Cytotechnology and 5+ years of related experience. Certified as a Cytotechnologist (CT) by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) NYS License as a Cytotechnologist Working knowledge of State and Federal regulations governing laboratories Understanding and assistance in quality control / quality improvement programs, staining QC, programs / reports Previous supervisory experience Must be a US citizen or eligible to work in the US for any employer.
