Senior Publicist – Penguin Press

enguin Press imprint of Penguin Group (USA) is seeking a Publicity Manager to independently execute publicity campaigns and multi-city author tours while developing and maintaining relationships with the media.  Penguin Press publishes elite authors including: Michael Pollan, Thomas E. Ricks, Thomas Pynchon, Zadie Smith, Phil Jackson, Nate Silver, Niall Ferguson, John Berendt, Ron Chernow, Amy Chua, Daniel Yergin, Eric Schlosser, Steve Coll, Alan Greenspan, Leon Panetta, and Mary Oliver among others. The Senior Publicist: Effectively secures national and regional media in major tour markets. Discovers new media outlets to build on media contacts including traditional and digital media. Develops and maintains relationships with existing authors, media, booksellers, and marketplace/industry contacts. Coordinates and implements all aspects of national and regional author tours. Creates press materials (i.e. press releases, pitch letters, author Q&As and story ideas). Presents Penguin Press list to broadcast, print, and online media outlets. Creates public awareness of the imprint. Requirements: 4 year college degree or equivalent work experience Minimum 3 years prior publicity experience; serious non-fiction and fiction experience preferred Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines Ability to work well independently as well as collaboratively Strong organizational skills and close attention to detail Experience with social media as well as online publicity and marketing Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Publicity Assistant, and Cision MediaSource
