GSO - Legal and Compliance
Title: GSO Legal and Compliance Job Description: The Legal & Compliance department seeks a professional to implement various compliance initiatives concerning investment professionals, middle office and back office. The successful candidate will work on a variety of compliance-related matters. Primary job responsibilities will include: · Focusing on internal compliance policy review, including assisting with risk assessments, annual compliance review, internal audit reviews, and ongoing or ad hoc reviews; · Working with various business groups to assess the effectiveness of, revise and redevelop, as needed, existing compliance policies and procedures; · Identifying and addressing areas where policies and procedures need to be developed or amended; · Having primary responsibility for various regulatory filings, including Form ADV; · Representing GSO on new initiatives that affect Blackstone on a firm-wide basis; and · Working with in-house counsel to monitor, and then implement responses to, regulatory developments that impact the business. Qualifications: GSO seeks to hire individuals who are highly motivated, intelligent, and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors. The successful candidate should have: At least 5 years of experience in a compliance or internal audit role, preferably in a private equity, hedge fund or other financial institution environment, including experience both conducting compliance testing and developing and drafting internal compliance procedures An undergraduate degree Demonstrated ability to write effectively Ability to work in an extremely fast-paced environment related to a growing and global business Knowledge of relevant rules and regulations and the day-to-day compliance affairs of private funds, including knowledge of the Advisers Act, is a plus The candidate should demonstrate the following personal competencies: Strong technical skills, sharp intellect, and experience to understand difficult, complex compliance and business problems Comfort interacting with senior management The ability to work with colleagues to devise pragmatic and creative solutions Prioritization, perspective and focus on critical tasks that add value In certain instances, project leadership, including excellent organizational skills and follow-through Highly effective oral and written communication Ability to develop relationships, internally and externally All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, disability, sexual orientation, national origin or any other category protected by law.
