Assistant Buyer

ootwear is looking to hire an assistant buyer for our buying department. The job’s primary responsibilities will include assisting Buyers in developing and implementing the merchandising strategy within departments in order to meet the needs of the customer and maximize the profits for the company. The ideal candidate will be personable (we have a positive work environment!), have a very strong attention to detail, understand and demonstrate high levels of personal productivity and efficiency and must be knowledgeable in product analytics. Responsibilities include: • Performs daily activities that supports the merchandising strategies and assists in the creation of a simple and compelling product presentation that will inspire the customer to buy. • Builds strong partnerships with other members of the team and vendor community. • Assist in the development/decision of the product assortment, merchandise point of view, shop strategies, key item positioning, and promotional plans, ensuring that the collection is compelling, commercially viable and supports overall business objectives. • Support online exclusive businesses strategies by assisting manager in the product development, promotional strategies, and product presentation. • Assist with web management to create a compelling product experience on the site, to include inspirational merchandise presentation, simple and intuitive category navigation, and accurate product details. • Communicate changes in merchandise assortments and messaging to the appropriate members on a timely basis. • Stay aware of changes in brand assortments and strategies. • Aid buyer in shopping market and competition for samples and price comparison • Demonstrate strong teamwork skills through cooperating with DNA Footwear teams. • Work with planner and analyst to ensure inventory levels are managed for the site and by classification. Job requirements: • Strong fashion sense, and the creative ability to choose merchandise assortments. • Problems solving and mathematical ability as it relates to merchandise purchasing. • Excellent organizational skills. • Four-year college degree in fashion merchandising or related field strongly preferred. • At least 2 year experience in the retail merchandise industry.
