We have been providing engineering design services to private sector clients and government agencies from our New York City office since 1968. The ideal candidate is Plumbing Design Engineer with professional interest and extensive experience in plumbing design may include: wet/dry sprinkler systems, dry chemical extinguishing systems, standpipes, foam systems, special hazard suppression, fire protection water supply systems, fire alarm and detection for new or specialized retrofit applications, code analysis and consulting, plan review, performance based analysis, and risk/hazard assessment. Projects ranging from high rise commercial properties to hospitals, theater complexes, schools, colleges, transportation facilities and historic renovation projects. Minimum requirements: • Design of plumbing and fire protection systems for corporate interior projects. • Create plans, schematics, equipment selection, calculations, systems narratives and specifications, system design and layout, field investigation and construction administration. • Perform design work on CADD system • Ability to perform site evaluations • Attend meetings with other consultants. • Work in close contact with the entire design team. • Provide engineering support for Senior engineering staff. • Comply with group and company standards and procedures. Qualifications: • B.S. Mechanical Engineering or M.S. in any building-related field (preferably engineering or energy management) • At least 5 years of relevant experience in design of plumbing/fire protection systems for construction projects. • Proficiency in the latest version of AutoCAD and HASS (or similar hydraulic calculation program). • Experience working in Revit or other BIM delivery methods is a plus. • Understanding of local codes, applicable NFPA standards. • EIT or PE license is preferred but not required. • Must be an effective team player and self motivated.
