Frontend Engineer

ocal is looking for a strong front-end engineer to work on the development of current and new products and features related to the CBS Local Digital Media properties. This is an opportunity to work in an entrepreneurial environment inside a media giant where your work will be used by millions of people. As an engineer you will be responsible for the entire Software Development Life Cycle of products that you work on, in a small agile environment. You will utilize the latest technologies to build upon our media players which stream audio and video across all of the CBS Local properties – cbslocal.com, radio.com, and fansportslive.com. Description: Build and maintain consumer-facing applications powering various digital radio and TV products Utilize a variety of languages and technologies, such as JavaScript with related frameworks, PHP, ActionScript, and Sass Utilize and integrate with our api.radio.com RESTful services Integrate third-party services into our current and future products Contribute to the company culture and social aspects of CBS Local Be an integral member of our engineering team which means performing code reviews, contribute to architectural decisions, and be responsible for crafting and promoting your ideas to various disciplines. Qualifications: Very strong JavaScript experience. A good understanding of the power and limitations of JS and integrations with other technologies. Experience with Angular, Backbone or JS Frameworks a plus Working knowledge of CSS preprocessor, such as Sass, a plus Advanced understanding of object-oriented programming concepts, algorithms, and data structures Highly motivated and proactive Driven to build the best interactive audio/video experience on the web Advanced problem solving and analytical skills Ability to understand highly technical and abstract concepts Proven ability to solve complex real-world problems Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience desired
