Junior Formulator (Industrial Pharmacy)

lient in Hauppauge, NY is looking for a Junior Formulator who has experience in product formulation and troubleshooting of existing products and procedures in production. Ensures physical parameters of product life cycle from inception and to shelf life.   Position Responsibility:               Prepares a sample of the new formulation (batch record) according to the calculation of ingredients provided by Product Development and documents the formula of the pilot batch that is to be created, e.g., capsule, tablets or powder. If approved, the pilot batch is tested according to the production type. If the batch is not successful then they initial formula is sent back to Product Development and/or Marketing with documented reasons for failure.  Product may have to be scaled up or down in order to achieve the desired results.  Once a new formulation is received from Product Development the process begins again and is repeated until the formula is successful. Calculates and documents the information for the label claims on the dietary supplements. Works on the manufacturing floor to observe the process and to make improvements after the initial run or to train the manufacturing staff, which is done in the lab and surrounding areas. Conducts product troubleshooting on products when complaints are received.  Investigates problems with the formula and/or during the manufacturing of the product to determine the defect and corrects formula. Must wears Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times as stipulated by SOPs, e.g. a respirator, ear plugs, hair net, beard cover and uniform. Satisfactory completion of appropriate corporate training as related to the position and/or department. Assures compliance by following Food and Drug Administration's Good Manufacturing Practices as well as other regulatory standards as required by the department. Contributes to overall achievement by accomplishing related tasks and demonstrating characteristics that exemplify team building and support. Experience with manufacturing equipment, capsules, tablets, blending machines. Good organization skills Good interpersonal skills Excellent knowledge of PC software, MS Office, Word, Excel College mathematical skills required, advanced calculus Excellent written and verbal communication skills   Education and Certifications:   BS in Pharmacy required, MS in Pharmacy preferred.
