CDL Owner Operators
ION SUMMARY: CDL Drivers will be making deliveries throughout several states. The primary function of this position is to drive a tractor trailer and manually unload, using a hand truck or two-wheeler on metal truck ramps, various products (meats, produce, frozen foods, groceries, dry goods, equipment and supplies) to customer drop-off sites while providing excellent customer service. Return the empty trailer to the distribution center. All functions must be completed in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. POSITION REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: - High School Diploma or GED. - Stable Employment History. - Individual must possess a valid CDL license with Hazmat Endorsement - A good driving record and a customer-friendly attitude is also a must. - Minimum 3 year commercial driving experience required or six months foodservice or food and beverage delivery experience required. Experience delivering food products preferred. - Must have basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide) and ability to work with money collected from customers to ensure the amount collected matches the invoiced amount. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES: - Driving a delivery truck to various destinations in assigned area in the east coast. - Must be able to lift and carry 50-60 lbs frequently. - Manage the loading and unloading of the truck. - Being able to check products against bill of ladings and purchase orders. - Securing shipment by applying straps, and follows all other DOT requirements. - Completes paperwork required for each trip including but not limited to daily time sheet and/or drivers log, bill of ladings and delivery receipts along with vehicle inspection form. - Perform all pre-trip responsibilities including: obtaining and reviewing driver itinerary, checking route numbers and account numbers for assigned deliveries, counting items and checking customer invoices of products that have been loaded, moving tractors to the loading dock to attach the preloaded trailers, completing required trailer temperature checks and performing pre-trip safety check inspections of trucks and trailers according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. - Drive to and deliver customer orders to meet the scheduled customer times and maintain adequate productivity rate to meet delivery schedules. Use electronic time keeping system to log in time at customer site. - Visually survey customer's site during the approach to determine hazards. WORKING SCHEDULE & PAY RANGE This driver is required to pay for his own expenses including fuel, plates, toll, insurance, truck and maintenance. This owner/operator would receive 70-80% of the gross load for payment.
