ient company as most in the Electronic Warfare Industry have a strategic direction of transition as they create and follow the future of the industry. The industry is in transition as we know toward Multi Functional boxes, Smaller Systems for smaller unmanned platforms, and a period of much system engineering to head into the future of Spectrum Warfare. With that they are poised to hire a new Director of Operations for their COE for Integrated Electronic Warfare Systems. My client company is about an 8 Bn. dollar company whose IEWS has been leading the EW industry for decades and they are moving forward with the level of excellence in strategic direction that has always been an ear mark of this company. If you are qualified for this position you will have 8 direct reports and about 40 Million in responsibility. You will ave 3 Operations managers directly reporting to you as well as five others including Supply chain, logistics, facilities, product development and Quality assurance. The Director of Operations serves as a strategic member of the Integrated Electronic Warfare (IEWS) leadership team. This position is responsible for providing leadership for the Operations organization. The Director is accountable for developing and implementing strategies to achieve operational and financial goals to enable growth, achieve profitability, continuously improve organizational efficiency and drive operational excellence. This position collaborates with Business Area and Functional leaders to enhance organizational focus on strategic/operational plans, customer and supplier requirements/priorities. This position is responsible for leading the manufacturing of company products using lean production and continuous improvement techniques. Serve as a key business partner in the development of competitively positioned proposals in the pursuit of profitable, new business opportunities. Areas of direct leadership responsibility include supply chain, logistics, manufacturing operations, manufacturing engineering, process controls, plant engineering, quality control, compliance. and quality assurance. Main Responsibilities: Partner and collaborate with Vice President and General Manager and leadership team in establishing the strategic and operational plans for the business area. Responsible for executing the business strategy by cascading and aligning business goals, establishing performance expectations and holding Operations teams accountable for meeting business and financial objectives. Ensures cost and organizational structures are aligned with business objectives to achieve maximum efficiency and profitability. Lead the Operations organization to ensure maximum effectiveness is obtained for the production of quality products within time and budgetary guidelines. This includes providing leadership to the Supply Chain organization to enhance the entire materials flow process. Ensures cost and cycle time reduction through lean principle applications. Collaborate with Contracts/Sub-contracts team to drive strategic business decisions and negotiation position with suppliers/subcontract partners. Work closely with suppliers and customers to build strong relationships to ensure requirements are met. Build organizational capability by developing Operations talent pipeline and ensure development of employees. Responsible for the development of manufacturing policies and procedures, forecasting production-related labor and facilities requirements, effective coordination between Manufacturing Operations and the other departments involved in producing goods. Ensure all contractual commitments are met in a cost effective manner, incorporating continuous improvement initiatives. Provides leadership to increase operational performance by improving quality, cost, material, labor productivity, delivery and safety. Maintain effective working relationships with the bargaining unit in order to drive desired culture and working environment. Provide leadership for the development and implementation of operations systems/analytical tools (i.e. ERP and cost estimating) for utilization in determining make/buy decisions of labor and materials. Direct and execute Internal Research and Development (IRAD) projects consistent with the operations business objectives. Required Experience: Minimum Professional Experience Ten years of applicable experience in electronics manufacturing with a working knowledge of supply chain management. Collective bargaining and electronics manufacturing environment experience preferred. Five or more year’s leadership experience in multiple phases of the business cycle. This includes developing and managing budgets, creating and executing short and long-term business strategies and tactics. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required: Inspiring leader with ability to motivate, interact with and influence external and internal customers at all levels. A change agent who can challenge long standing principles and paradigms to drive an increasingly competitive position, cost reductions and enhance performance. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to articulate credible and well-reasoned business cases and strategies. Ability to create trust and credibility with key stakeholders. Ability to direct and manage multiple competing priorities and projects simultaneously. Ability to obtain a “top secret” security clearance. Ability to operate under tight deadlines, schedules and cost pressures. Experience in leading lean initiatives. Equivalent Education Level Required: Bachelor’s degree in a business, engineering or scientific discipline. Advanced degree/MBA preferable.
