We empower boys and young men with effective programming in character development and life skills, academic support, visual and performing arts, sports and recreation and physical and mental health. BCNY serves nearly 4,000 boys who are members of our three full-service clubhouses – Harriman Clubhouse on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, Elbridge T. Gerry, Jr. Clubhouse in East Harlem, and the Marion McMahon Abbe Clubhouse in Flushing, Queens.   POSITION SUMMARY Are you passionate about building character, leadership skills and confidence through youth development? Do you enjoy sharing this passion and inspiring youth? We have an exciting opportunity for a talented and passionate Curriculum Development Manager who will work closely with the Director of Program Development and Evaluation, and the Program Development team to create and plan engaging programs for boys and young men aged 6 through 20 in all of BCNY’s key program areas. The Curriculum Development Manager will be integral in shaping BCNY’s programs and will be involved in the conception and planning of programs.   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES   Responsible for the successful creation and planning of all of BCNY’s core programs: Take a collaborative and reflective approach. (e.g. get the input of users, staff and leaders, apply lessons to current projects.) Research new program initiatives and conducting literature reviews Develop clear and consistent program models Source and manage content from vendors or partners Identify and explore partnership opportunities Design and develop effective member programming in accordance with the BCNY’s goals Draft budget estimates Develop job descriptions. Update program curriculum/content for all existing programs as needed, applying lessons of successes and challenges, give input and support to the program development team in improving programs. Review, make decisions and support the successful realization of program proposals from staff. Work closely with the Program Manager towards successful implementation of programs. (e.g. meet to review content, implementation and hiring plans/timelines, required supplies, materials or training, indicators of success, support training if necessary, and so on.) Work with the Grant Proposal Writer in developing program models for grant requests. Occasionally write grant proposals, if needed. Ensure consistent quality of produced materials. Be proactive about keeping abreast of theories, issues, trends and best-practices in the industry and pursuing relevant professional development opportunities. Work with and support Human Resources, Communications, Finance and Development departments as it relates to the role and as needed. Complete other tasks and projects as needed to support the goals of the Director of Program Development and Evaluation, the Program Development team, and BCNY.         EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree in a discipline of social science, or relevant subject, required. Master’s Degree and 3-5 years of work experience is strongly preferred. Minimum of two years successfully designing and leading programs in a youth centered organization is highly preferred.   KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES Successfully manage projects with high standards of quality and attention to detail. Excellent analytical, writing, presentation and interpersonal skills. Work with flexibility, efficiency, enthusiasm, and diplomacy as part of a team. History of success in roles managing multiple priorities. Results-oriented with a learning approach and good judgment.
