Product Manager/Home Decor

roduct Manager is responsible for new product development as well as maintenance of existing products and programs. This person will have extensive experience in managing multiple products and categories and be strong in creating new product lines and managing the entire process from ideation through to production. Line Analysis *Identify categories for growth *Analyze line sell in, sell through, margin, inventory and new product plans *Execute competitive analysis on the profitability of products *Analyze new/current and historical financial data, and is responsible for reporting on all vital statistics New Program Development *Brainstorm and research new ideas *Develop merchandising solutions- co-ordinate product, packaging and display plans *Understand trends and competitive environment Determine new item feasibility *Submit specification of new ideas to international office for initial sourcing and quoting *Review quotes and analyze margins to determine viability *Work with safety team on testing and labeling requirements for new items *Negotiate product pricing and related manufacturing, delivery and quality assurance issues Communication *Oversee and maintain internal product database *Communicate to catalog, inventory, sales and customer service on new and existing lines *Make recommendations for purchasing and inventory control *Generate weekly reports on categories New Product Development *Communicate product specifications to art department *Work with art department to finalize mechanicals *Review mechanical to ensure all details are within quotation guidelines *Ascertain that UPC item number and vendor numbers are correct on mechanicals *Work with prepress to get art out to vendors Production Process *Work with international office and safety team to ensure all items pass testing *Request and approve samples from various vendors and international office *Work with internal proofing departing to ensure all comments are logged and communicated to vendors *Coordinate distribution of approved samples to catalog, photography and showrooms Planogram Maintenance *Provide list to mock up department for finalizing planograms *Ensure all items in planograms are appropriately labeled *Provide samples for showrooms, trade shows and other departments as needed Post Production Tracking *Track production with vendors and inventory department *Handle quality control issues Ownership of and responsibility for existing categories *Maintain existing products *Address inventory, warehouse and testing issues *Address quality control issues as they arise *Review and negotiate pricing *Respond to customer service and various product questions Time management *Understand and meet deadlines *Manage the time and action calendar *Address issues in a timely and efficient manner Partnership *Maintain and develop communication with current and existing vendors *Develop and maintain strong working interdepartmental relationships Market Awareness *Be aware of the market trends driving your product categories *Participate in trade show and competitive shopping Required Skills *Bachelors degree preferred *Three or more years of experience in similar role *Must be highly detail oriented *Self starter who is able to work independently as well as in a team environment *Ability to efficiently handle multiple projects and meet deadlines *Proficient in Microsoft office with an emphasis in Excel *Experience with product development software such as PLM
