ASEBALL CENTER NYC JOB TITLE:  Maintenance Worker   REPORTS TO:   Executive Director   JOB OUTLINE:  Key Support to the Director of Operations     LOCATION: New York, New York   DEPT/DIVISION: Facilities/Operations   CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt   JOB SUMMARY:   Under the supervision of the Director of Operations, the Facility Manager will be responsible for overseeing all Baseball Center NYC facilities and support services. Their responsibilities include: maintaining the physical condition of TBC facility and ensuring all of the building-related systems are successfully and safely operating at all times. They will coordinate with any related outside vendors to ensure these systems are up-to-date and in compliance with New York State and/or New York City building codes and regulations. The Facilities Manager will also perform custodial or maintenance-related activities as needed for TBC. They will lead activities to ensure all Baseball Center programs may be conducted safely, as scheduled, and without interruption. They will also assist in the selection and implementation of any facilities or building-related system changes or upgrades. They will be TBC’s chief Fire Safety Officer and coordinate with the NYC Fire Department to ensure TBC is operating under appropriate guidelines. They will also work extensively with the Executive Director to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the entire Baseball Center facility at all times. As a key member of TBC’s Operational team, they will address the critical facilities and maintenance needs of TBC. They also oversee the purchasing of key facilities or maintenance-related supplies and ensure that all of Baseball Center equipment is functioning and operating properly, including, but not limited to: Nets, Iron Mike and Pro-Batter pitching machines. They will also ensure TBC is able to provide high quality programs and activities in a safe environment for all who enter the facility. They will work to ensure TBC’s mission, vision and strategic goals are aligned and accomplished successfully.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   Oversees the effective operation of key Baseball Center equipment, including but not limited to: Nets, Iron Mike, and Pro-Batter pitching machines and batting cages. Assists in the on-going maintenance, adjustments or repairs and the safe functioning of this equipment, as well as, the installment of any new equipment.   Provides day-to-day facility support services for the entire Baseball Center and responds to work requests in a timely manner. Works to address any facilities, maintenance, or equipment related issues in order to ensure little or no disruption to TBC’s programs, activities or events.   Assesses the effectiveness of TBC’s facilities and physical plant and proactively identifies any key issues and recommends solutions wherever appropriate to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of TBC.   Performs facilities or maintenance-related work as requested by the Executive Director, including but not limited to: Building construction, repairs or upgrades, light fixture maintenance and electrical upgrades or adjustments, painting, basic plumbing and cleaning.   In cooperation with the Executive Director, orders any facilities or maintenance related supplies and works with the vendors of these supplies to make sure TBC has the materials it needs to operate successfully and efficiently.   In partnership with the Executive Director, secures necessary building permits and any other required building certificates or documentation to ensure the safe and effective running of TBC facility.   As a key member of TBC’s operational team, applies a broad and deep maintenance knowledge and experience to assist the Executive Director to ensure the facility adheres to all NY State and NY City related codes and regulations.   Successfully implements the organization’s facilities and maintenance activities to ensure all resources and support are available for Baseball Center programs and teams.     ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES   Helps to drive the continued success and growth of The Baseball Center by supporting the Director of Operations and ensuring the effective, efficient and safe running of the facility, its programs and all activities.     Provides support to other Baseball Center employees for room set-up and breakdown for key Baseball Center programs, activities and events.    EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:   Three or more years of progressively responsible work in facilities or maintenance management; sports or athletics facility preferred. High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred. Experience in a highly collaborative organization focused in providing high quality customer service and programs for children. Minimal travel required.   QUALIFICATIONS:   Ability to oversee and direct others to successfully perform facilities and maintenance related requirements and requests. Strong interpersonal skills are essential to develop effective relationships with the rest of TBC’s team, and to quickly and effectively address any of their facilities or maintenance related needs. Strong communication skills with a track record of working with a diverse and multi-functional group of employees in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrate knowledge of key building codes and fire safety requirements. Ability to assess and define facilities, maintenance and equipment related problems and draw needed conclusions in order to quickly and efficiently address or solve these issues.  Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with current operational team members and to produce exceptional customer services for all clients of The Baseball Center. Have previous facilities and maintenance experience and demonstrate the ability to lead the day-to-day activities of these areas for an organization like The Baseball Center, an organization which is experiencing significant strategic change and development.  Have excellent organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to deliver high quality work on time and within budget. Have the ability to prioritize assignments of self and others. Have the ability to establish, manage and execute the day-to-day facilities and maintenance needs and requirements of the organization effectively and efficiently. Have the ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented, collaborative and collegial environment. Have the ability to perform heavy physical work, heavy lifting, pushing or pulling or required objects weighing up to 100 pounds. Proficient with Computers with strong abilities in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and similar tools.
