ortuguese Editor’s primary function is to edit the fashion and lifestyle Brazilian Portuguese translations of the WGSN website’s products to ensure that the spirit and intent of the original English language content is accurately interpreted into Brazilian Portuguese. The Portuguese Editor is responsible for handling in-house translation requests, and keeping the Portuguese site content up to date on a daily basis. The ideal candidate will be a native Brasilian Portuguese speaker with fluency in English. Prior trasnlation experience required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Edit the fashion and lifestyle Brazilian Portuguese translations of the WGSN website’s products to ensure that the spirit and intent of the original English language content is accurately interpreted into Brazilian Portuguese on a consistent basis. • Ensure that all Brazilian Portuguese translations are grammatically correct, free from spelling errors and contain correct terminologies on a consistent basis. • Consistently deliver high quality edited Brazilian Portuguese translations on a timely basis under tight deadlines. • Handle in-house translation requests: perform editing and/or translation for various departments at WGSN as may be required. • Maintain language consistency through all WGSN’s content in Brazilian Portuguese. • Update the Portuguese site’s keywords as may be required. • Effectively communicate with graphic designers to ensure that Brazilian Portuguese translations are accurately executed into trend reports, marketing & sales collaterals, and the Portuguese site. • Provide guidance to translators to better translation quality • Suggest ideas that set the standard for appropriate tone and style for WGSN’s Brazilian Portuguese translations; rigorously follow through the Style Guide authored by the Senior Portuguese Editor. • Serve as the liaison for Portuguese market related projects as may be required. • Cover for other Portuguese Editor(s) when they are away from the office.   REQUIRED BACKGROUND AND QUALIFICATIONS: Must be a native Brazilian Portuguese speaker with exceptional skills in reading, writing and typing in Brazilian Portuguese. Must have near-native reading comprehension and fluent conversational skills in English. Familiar with the cultures of Brazil and the U.S. (or U.K.). Passionate about languages and translation works. Must be able to perform translation and editing from English into Brazilian Portuguese. Must be able to clearly and effectively communicate in English and in Portuguese through verbal and written forms. Ability to produce high quality translation editing works under tight deadlines is required. Writing must be concise and grammatically accurate. Prior Brazilian Portuguese writing or copyediting experience required; fashion magazine, marketing or advertising translation-editing experience is a plus. Must have an interest in fashion and be able to conduct independent research on fashion related topics and terminologies in English and Portuguese to ensure accurate content translation and interpretation. Must be detail oriented, well organized and fast learning; good multi-tasking skill is a must. Able to work independently with minimal supervision or work in a team. Must be familiar with recent Apple’s MAC operating system and have a working proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
