Restaurant General Manager

sushi restaurant located in a four-star hotel in Stamford, CT, is seeking a seasoned general manager. The candidate should have a strong background in restaurant management and specifically a knowledge of managing Sushi establishments that includes eat-in, take-out, delivery and catering services. Experience working in a hotel restaurant is a plus. Summary of Responsibilities We are looking for someone who has a passion for the food industry and the leadership and creative abilities to manage a new concept sushi restaurant. This is an exciting opportunity that will require the candidate to be able to manage the daily operations of our establishment, including the selection, development and performance management of employees, oversee inventory of food and supplies, optimize profits, and ensure guest satisfaction.   Essential Functions of General Manager Manager to Employees: Recruit and select diverse, highly skilled employees Lead and manage assigned restaurant team in all aspects of the department Optimize profit by scheduling labor efficiently Ensure that no employee, including chef and service team, speaks, acts, or dresses in a way that is in disagreement with the atmosphere of the establishment. Conduct all staff meetings at least once a week Maximize revenues by communicating regularly with the managing teams to implement agreed upon strategies, practices and promotions Manager to Guests: Ensure that all guests feel welcome and are given responsive, friendly and courteous services at all times Manager to Restaurant Upkeep: Responsible for ordering food and supplies to maintain appropriate inventory Ensure that all food and products are constantly prepared and served according to the restaurant’s recipes, portioning, cooking, and serving standards Prepare all paperwork in a timely manner Manage department budget Have full knowledge of all food and beverage menus Follow hotel policies, procedures and service standards Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage   Requirements: 2 years of restaurant experience 2-5 years of management experience High School Diploma (Some college preferred) Basic business math and accounting skills Familiarity with Micros System a plus Stamina to work 50-60 hours a week Flexibility to work weekends and holidays Self-motivated, goal oriented, dependable Good Oral and Written communication skills Passion for business and people Outstanding leadership, interpersonal/conflict resolution skills Strong understanding of food, health, and safety Ability to work in high-pressure environment
