Assistant Controller

s looking for an Assistant Controller for a Full Time Direct Hire position. Our client is looking for a CPA with more than 7 years of experience in the industry. The ideal candidate for this position will be:    This position requires excellent supervisory, managerial, and roll-up-the sleeves work ethics and attitude in supervising and managing the members and operations of the Department. - Assist in achieving Departmental goals, deadlines, and carrying out other responsibilities to manage the day-to-day operations of the Department. - Supervise, review, assist, and approve the work of Senior and Staff Accountants, bookkeepers, and clerical staff.   Assist in training and evaluations.   Mentor staff to ensure that all accounting and analysis duties are properly and accurately done on a timely basis. - Responsible for monthly closing the accounting books and records by performing, supervising,  and reviewing tasks, for example:   Preparing and posting journal entries;  Determining proper cut-offs for purchasing, receiving, invoicing, cash receipts and payments;  Accrue any revenue that was not billed;  Evaluate contra-revenue accounts: discounts, promotions, and allowances;  Accrue expenses for all liability accounts; Update  allowances;  Calculate commissions;  Calculate depreciation;  Value ending inventory;  etc. ; Review bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies;  Review and reconcile subsidiary ledgers to general ledger.   Requirements: • Roll-up-the sleeves and hands-on Manager of people and operations of the Department.   • CPA with Bachelor’s Accounting Degree. • At least 7+ years of Corporate Accounting Department experience. • Public accounting experience – high-tier accounting firm. • Experience with consumer products manufacturing, inventory, cost accounting, and chargeback (customer deductions). • Experience with Syspro ERP software system, a plus.   Successful candidate will need to learn and fully utilize the Syspro software system as part of day-to-day responsibilities. • Solid management and supervisory experience. • Strong technical, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills. • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
